What is a third party shipment inspection?

A third party inspection is an unbiased, independent, and specialized 3rd party inspection company, other than the buyers or the seller to perform the inspections, tests of the products. It has great advantage over the cost, skill, experience, overheads, energies, and convieniences.


There are various inspection types for various production stages:


The inspection company will contact the sellers to set up the inspection, confirm the date and address.

The 3rd party inspections are normally have the following checklist in onsite inspections:

A. Quantity Check
B. Shipping Marks and Packing
C. Label, Logos and Colours
D. Product/Material & Sizes
E. Onsite Tests: functions, industrial & safety
F. Client’s Requirements
G. AQL Workmanship (Visual Defects) 

There is a standard inspection process defined the sample size, allowed defect rate, and inspection procedures. The sellers can also name their inspection requirements, test requirements, seal some random samples to send to test, or for reference.


The info needed for the inspection would be PO or PI info, packing list, packing requirement, technical drawing, artworks, special requirement, and the seller's contact info.

from:  Why most inspections are Final Random Inspections For most Pre-shipment inspections , how come most of them are Final Random Inspection , instead of full check, initial inspection, during production inspection ? Normally for common consumer products, we recommend Final Random Inspection s when production is finished, and the products are fully packed into the cartons and are ready for shipment. It is cost-effective to make sure the product quality is up to the acceptable level statistically. Most of the inspections are done in this way, 1 man-day should be enough. If the result is failed, the factory need to recheck, rework the whole batch, and pay for a re-inspection.   We do have a During Production Inspection , when 20-30% of the production is finished.
